Erklärung zum öffentlichen Heraustrennen von Logos aus einem „Refugees-Welcome“-Banner

Im Dezember kam es bei einem Solikonzert der ver.di-Jugend Thüringen für Watch the Med zu einem kleinen Eklat, als ein Antira-Aktivist die Logos aus einem „Refugees Welcome“-Banner herausschnitt. Jetzt gibt es dazu eine Erklärung, die uns zugespielt wurde:

Warum ich das «Refugees Welcome»-Banner im Filler (Erfurt) beschnitten habe

Was ist passiert?

Bei einem Solikonzert für «Watch the Med» am 3.12.2016 im Filler hing als Bühnenhintergrund ein riesiges Banner «Refugees Welcome». In einer Ecke des Banners waren die Logos von «LAP», «DenkBunt» und «Stadt Erfurt» abgedruckt, offensichtlich die Geldgeber. Bevor Refpolk und Daisy Chain ihren Auftritt begannen, ging ich auf die Bühne und machte eine Ansage. In dieser wies ich auf die kommende Break Deportation Soliveranstaltung am 17.12.2016 hin. Nachdem ich zudem auf die anhaltenden Abschiebungen, gleich welcher Regierung, und den marginalisierten Widerstand dagegen hinwies, nahm ich Bezug auf das Banner. Ich erklärte u.a. dass es widersprüchlich und unerträglich sei, auf einer solchen Soliveranstaltung die Stadt Erfurt mit «Refugees Welcome» für sich werben zu lassen, da sie oft genug das Gegenteil bewiesen hatte. Dann nahm ich eine Schere, schnitt die betreffende Ecke mit den Logos aus dem Banner und verließ die Bühne. Ich blieb noch weitere vier Stunden auf der Party und wurde ein einziges Mal von jemandem angesprochen, der die Aktion falsch fand. Das war Denny Möller, SPD-Stadtrat und Ver.di-Vorsitzender Mittelthüringen. Er hatte keine Meinung zu der Aktion, sondern wollte schlicht meinen Namen wissen, um mich wegen Sachbeschädigung anzuzeigen.

Nachgang
Wenn sich jetzt im Nachgang Filler-Aktive oder -Amtsträger*innen an der Aktion stören, dann können sie zunächst von Folgendem ausgehen: Das Break Deportation-Netzwerk ist ein selbstorganisiertes Netzwerk (anders als der DGB oder eine Partei mit Funktionär*innen und dem Ziel, in der Verwaltung des Elends gelegentlich mitspielen zu dürfen), in dem sich Menschen auf verschiedene Weise organisieren, um Abschiebungen zu bekämpfen. Ich habe am 3.12.2016 entschieden, dass ich im Namen des Antirassismus den Standortkampagnen der Stadt Erfurt oder der BRD mit ihren Imageprogrammen «LAP» und «DenkBunt» symbolisch keinen Raum lassen will. Erfurt ist genausowenig bunt wie die BRD und wer meint, das eigene Mitmachen oder Verwenden staatlicher Symbolik würden die Stadt / den Staat verändern, zumal in Zeiten, in denen halbjährlich Verschärfungen des Asylrechts durchgewunken werden, missversteht, dass er_sie vor allem sich und eine politische Bewegung Veränderung durch Einbindung und Kompromittierung unterwirft. Dass ich die dazugehörige Aktion mit einer Werbung für die Break Deportation-Veranstaltung am 17.12.2016 verband, war ebenfalls meine Entscheidung, die ich inhaltlich passend fand. Das Filler scheint dazu genausowenig eine Meinung zu haben wie der Möller. Für einen Sozialdemokraten (ob in der SPD oder der Linkspartei) ist das allerdings auch nur konsequent: Wer Geflüchtete jagen lässt, muss auch Antirassist*innen jagen. Wie es in der Demokratie eben üblich – weil möglich – ist, werden alle anderen Verfahrens-, Macht- und Gewaltmittel ausgeschöpft, um inhaltliche Auseinandersetzung und offene Kritik zu vermeiden. Der Möller (eigener Slogan: «lebendiges Erfurt. Sozial und Solidarisch») will einem wegen eines länger begründeten, offen vollzogenen Scherenschnitts direkt die uniformierten Schläger* und Mörder*innen auf den Hals hetzen. Das Filler wiederum nutzt die Kontrolle über «ihre» Räumlichkeiten und versuchte, per angedrohter Absage das Break Deportation Netzwerk zu erpressen, den «Täter» vorzuschieben und ihn zudem von der kommenden Veranstaltung selber auszuschließen.

Für grenzenlose Solidarität mit der Stadt Erfurt und ihrer Gewalt
Wenn Verantwortliche vom Filler, dort ansässige Gruppen oder andere Gruppen ein Problem damit haben, die «Willkommens»-Maske vor ihren tatsächlichen Gesichtern des «Mitmachen ist alles – Ausbeutung, Armut, Abschiebungen und Polizeigewalt gehören halt dazu» in Form des kleinen kosmetischen Eingriffs am Banner heruntergerissen bekommen zu haben, dann sei festgehalten: Es wurde aus einem Banner eine Ecke rausgeschnitten. Das Banner haben irgendwelche übervollen Fördertöpfe aus Staatsgeldern bezahlt. Die Aktion wurde völlig offen vollzogen und dazu noch erläutert. Es gab in den Stunden nach der Aktion nicht eine Person, die die Diskussion gesucht hat. Der Einzige, der sich überhaupt ablehnend äußerte, hatte noch nicht einmal Argumente, sondern wollte mich eigentlich der Polizei ausliefern.

Wenn ihr damit ein Problem habt und das Break Deportation Netzwerk bzw. Roma Thüringen nicht nur weiterhin mit ihren Kämpfen alleine lasst wie zuvor, sondern ihnen nun aktiv Räume entzieht und sie bekämpft, dann steht wenigstens öffentlich dazu, dass ihr FÜR die ganze tägliche Gewalt seid und für deren Funktionär*innen und Banner mehr Solidarität habt, als für alle, die sich im Kampf um ihr Leben selbst organisieren. Denn: Eine der Stammgruppen im Filler ist die Junge Gruppe, die Jugendgruppe der Gewerkschaft der Polizei (GdP). Wer seinen Lebensunterhalt mit dem Vollzug der alltäglichen, tödlichen Gewalt verdienen will, ist euch der liebere Partner als Geflüchtete und Antirassist*innen, die für ein gutes, selbstbestimmtes Leben für alle kämpfen? Jeder abgeschobene Mensch, jede*r verprügelte Demonstrant*in, jede*r verknastete Diebin oder jede*r erschossene Zwangsgeräumte (Erfurt, Dezember 2015) ist euch weniger ein Problem als ein gestutztes Stück Kunstoff? Als Gewerkschafter*innen mit antirassistischem Habitus solltet ihr euch zuallererst einmal dazu verhalten, dass eure GdP es war, die rund 600.000€ Straf-, Prozess- und Anwaltskosten des Dessauer Dienstgruppenführers komplett trug, der wegen seiner Mitverantwortung für den Feuertod Oury Jallohs am 7.1.2005 in einer Polizeizelle verurteilt wurde. Und für eure Verflechtungen mit der Sozialdemokratie bzw. Wortführern wie einem Denny Möller: Euer Oberbürgermeister Bausewein hatte schon kein Problem damit, das besetzte Haus militärisch räumen zu lassen und danach den dort autonom und gegen den Widerstand der Täter*innen schützenden Erfurter Geschichtsschreibung errichteten Gedenkort Topf&Söhne für eine Imagekampagne der Stadt zu vereinnahmen. Er machte sich auch konsequenterweise in einem offenen Brief vom 26.8.2015, die Forderungen des pogromfreudigen Volksmobs zu eigen, indem er mit direktem Bezug zu Heidenau forderte, Kinder von Geflüchteten aus Erfurter Schulen zu nehmen und schneller abzuschieben. Umgesetzt wurde dies tatsächlich auch in Erfurt schon lange vorher, u.a. im April 2014, als Riana und Elmedina vormittags von der Polizei aus dem Unterricht heraus verschleppt und mit ihrer zeitgleich verhafteten Mutter Elvira abgeschoben wurden. Ohne jegliche Vorankündigung und am Internationalen Tag der Roma.

Wo war zu all diesen Ereignissen der Skandal für euch? Hat das irgendeine Konsequenz für all die, die in der Landespolizeiinspektion, im Rathaus oder Landtag ebenso ein- und ausgehen wie im Filler? Oder kommt ihr nur nicht dazu, weil ihr abgeschnittenen Kunststofffetzen hinterherjagt?

Was ihr als Gewerkschaftsjugend tun könntet
Hört den Geflüchteten zu, lernt aus ihren Kämpfen und von ihrer Solidarität. Selbstorganisation ist keine Alternativlosigkeit der armen nicht-Partei-/Gewerkschaftsmitglieder, sondern eine bewusste Entscheidung, Kämpfe für alle und mit allen zu führen. Ihr könntet weiterhin die Polizeigewerkschaft unmittelbar aus euren Räumen und Zusammenhängen schmeißen. Jeder soziale Kampf wird, sobald er relevant genug aufgestellt ist, mithilfe der Polizei niedergeknüppelt. Und auch unabhängig von dieser grundsätzlichen, offensichtlichen Erkenntnis liefert die GdP im Besonderen tagtäglich neue gute Gründe. Ihr proklamiert zum 1. Mai «Wir sind nicht Volk, wir sind Klasse»? Dann geht auch den Schritt weiter und hört auf jene zu sein, die entweder den Kopf hinhalten oder bei der ersten Gelegenheit aufsteigen um nach unten zu treten. Darüber hinaus könntet ihr alle Kassen, Fördertöpfe und Materialbestände, die euch zur Verfügung stehen, gnadenlos plündern und zusammen mit eurem Wissen über politische Herrschaftsstrukturen und Einzelfunktionär*innen, über Öffentlichkeitsarbeit oder über Rechtliches in den Dienst selbstorganisierter Bewegungen (und damit euch selber) stellen. U.a. Roma Thüringen bietet sich für sowas schon seit Jahren an. Den Schlüssel fürs Filler solltet ihr im selben Zuge mehrfach nachmachen lassen und an jene verteilen, denen nicht nur politisch überall Raum genommen wird, sondern deren physische Präsenz auch permanent mit rassistischen Kontrollen und Abschiebungen bekämpft wird.

Antirassismus ist keine Standortkampagne – Emanzipation und Selbstorganisation sind bewusste, solidarische Antworten

Last december the youth of the trade-union ver.di organized a charity-concert for Watch the Med. Some unionists got upset when an anti-racist activist cut out the logos from a „Refugees Welcome“-banner that hung on the stage. Now the activist has declared himself:

Why did I cut out a part of the „Refugees Welcome“-banner at Filler (Erfurt)

What has happened?
During a solidarity concert fpr „Watch the Med“ on December 3rd, 2016 at Filler, there was a big „Refugees Welcome“-banner hung up as the background of the stage. In one corner, it showed the logos of „LAP“, „DenkBunt“ and „Stadt Erfurt“, obviously the financers. Before Refpolk and Daisy Chain started their gig, I entered the stage and made a statement, in which I also announced the upcoming Break Deportation solidarity event on December 17th 2016. After I refered to the ongoing deportations, no matter whiic ghovernment, and the marginalized resistance against it, I refered to the banner. I declared it unbearable to give space for the advertising „Refugees Welcome“ of the city of Erfurt during such a solidarity event, because it has often enough proved the opposide. Then I took a pair of scissors, cut out the concerned part of the banner and left the stage. I stayed another four hours at the party and was only once adressed by someone in dissent to what I did. This was Denny Möller, an SPD-counselman and head of Ver.di Mittelthüringen. He didn‘t have an opintion n the action, but simply asked my name to have the police charging me.

Afterwards
If afterwards, some active poeple from Filler or functionaries are disturbed by the action, they should consider the following: The Break Deportation-network is a self-organized network (other than DGB or parties with functionaries and their aim to sometimes play a little role in administrating the misery), in which people organize in various ways to combat deportations. On December 3rd 2016, I decided to symbolically not leave the city of Erfurt or the Federal Republic of Germany space in the name of antiracism to rally for their image campaigns. Erfurt is not colourful at all, neither is Germany, and everyone who thinks to change the city or state by playing a little role in it or by using official logos, especially in times of continuous sharpening of asylum legislation, misunderstands, that he/she is first of all chaning him-/herself and a political movement by integration and compromise. The fact that I connected my action with the upcoming Break Deportation event on December 17th 2016, was also my very own decision, based on the political connection.

Neither the Filler nor Denny Möller seem to have an opinion on this. For socialdemocrats (if SPD or Die Linke), this is only consequent: Whoever chases refugees, has to chase antiracists as well. As it is common in democracy – because it‘s possible -, all means of formalities, hierarchy and violence are used in priority to avoid an actual debate based on content and criticism. Mr. Möller (his own slogan: „lively Erfurt. Social and in solidarity“) wants to have me chased by the uniformed hooligans and murderers just for a little cut, explained and openly executed. The Filler on its part uses the control over the rooms and tried to blackmail the Break Deportation-network by threatening them to cancel the rooms for the event if they weren‘t to deliver the offender and exclude him from the planned event.

For unlimited solidarity with the city of Erfurt and its violence If responsible persons from Filler, user groups or other groups have a problem with having the „Welcome“-mask dragged from their faces of „Being a part of the game is everything – exploitation, poverty, deportations and police brutality actually go along with it“ by cosmetically cutting the corner of a banner, then let‘s state the following: The corner of a banner has been cut out. The banner was paid for by some generous state funds. The action was executed totally openly and even explained. A couple of hours passed after it without a single person actually looking for discussion. The only one stating his dissent was without any arguments, but only wanted to deliver me to police.
If you still have a problem with this and you do not only leave the Break Deportation-network or Roma Thüringen as alone as before, but you even cancel their rooms and fight them, then at least be bold enough to publicly declare that you have more solidarity FOR the daily violence and its functionairies and banners than for those who organize themselves in a struggle for their lives. Because: One of the core groups at Filler is the Junge Gruppe, the youth group of the police workers‘ union (GdP). Whoever wants to make a living out of executing the daily, deadly violence, is a preferable partner to you over refugees and antiracists, who fight for a decent life for all? Every deported person, every beaten up protester, every imprisoend thief or every shot person during a forced eviction (Erfurt, December 2015) is less a problem to you than a re-designed piece of synthetics?

As unionists with antiracist habits, you should at first find a position on your fellow GdP paying 600.000€ of the costs for penal fine, court and lawyer of the chief police officer from Dessau, who was found guilty for the death of Oury Jalloh, who burned in a police cell on january 7th 2005. And concerning your bounds with the socialdemocrats or their leaders like Denny Möller: Your mayor Bausewein already didn‘t mind to evict the squatted house by military means in 2008 in order to have the facilities of rememberance Topf&Söhne, which was set up autonomously by the squatters, monopolized for an image campaign of the city. He consequently also copied the demands of the pogrom-enforcing German mobby publishing an open letter on August 26th 2015, demanding to ban refugee kids from Erfurt schools and deport refugees quicker – all this in direct relation to what happend in Heidenau just before. This was actually executed in Erfurt already long before, when for example on April 8th 2014, the International Day of the Roma, Elmedina and Riana were taken directly from their classroom by police, while their mother Elvira was arrested at home at the same time. They were immediatley deported, without any warning before.

Where was the scandal for you people when all this happened? Did it have any consequence for all those who frequent the police station, city hall or parliament the same as they walk in and out at Filler? Or didn‘t you just find time to scandalize it, because you were busy chasing after pieces of synthetics?

What you can do as young unionists
Listen to the refugees, learn from their struggles and solidarity. Self-organization is not a lack of alternatives of the poor non-union- or party-members, but a conscious decision, to fight struggles for all and all together. You could firstly kick out the police union of your rooms and affinities. Every social struggle will be smashed by the police once it gets too relevant. And even independently from this basic attitude, the GdP delivers new reason on a daily basis. You proclaim „We are not ‚the people‘ – we are a class“ for 1st of May? Then take a step further and stop being those who either bend their heads down or use the first ticket upstairs to afterwards hit down on the others. Furthermore you could totally plunder all savings, funds and materials in your accessibility and, together with your knowledge on political structures of domination, on single leaders, on public relations or on legal issues, fully put it in service of self-organized movements (and this way yourself). Roma Thüringen would have been a great recipicient for years already. The Keys for Filler should be copied at the same time and handed out to all those, whose political space is not only challenged all over, but whose physical presence is continously combatted by racist controls and deportations.
